One of the most important revelations of modern psychology is how very wrong our habitual perception can be. Freedom from delusion is so important in our practice that the first words of the Buddha after his enlightenment were a poem describing this liberation; “Oh house builder thou aren't seen at last, the ridge pole is broken, the rafters are shattered, no more shall you build this house of sorrow.” Delusion is the ridge pole that holds up the rafters of clinging, anger, fear, and sorrow. Seeing through delusion, the Buddha liberated himself from the house of human suffering and walked away. When we awaken from delusion, our life is transformed.
The daylong retreat is an excellent way to deepen one's practice and is provided for the community to accommodate busy family lives. There will be sitting, walking, and movement meditations as well as conferences and a dharma talk. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch, wear comfortable clothing and bring a reusable drinking cup. Whether you have been meditating for years or weeks, we hope you will join us as we take a deeper dive into the practice together.
